Main and important procedure Vaman is applied in Kapha dosha vitiated conditions and spring season (Vasant ritu). Vaman karma is induced vomiting procedure, must be practiced after intake medicated Ghritam for several days minimum 3 days and maximum 7 days in increasing order according to dosha and agni bal of paitent, then abhyangam with certain medicated oils, steam bath is applied for one day. After proper instructions regarding diet and daily regimen, next day early morning after spiritual hymens under supervision of experienced panchakarma physician Vaman Karma is applied.

Procedure
Vaman Karma is performed early morning after snehpan and swedan procedure, before night diet regimen which should be kaphotkleshak, helps to move Kapha towards koshtha. When patient attained adequate sleep, evacuate natural urges and feels not hungery after chanting spiritual hymns appropriate drug for Vaman Karma which is decided by experts according to disease, dosha vitiation, prikriti and bal (Strength) of patient. After administration of drug after 10 to 15 minutes patient feel nausea tic feeling, sweating then vomiting effortless starts, after each vomiting some liquid like milk, sugarcane juice is given to make procedure easy for patient.
4 vegas(times) of vomiting is in Avar shudhi(adequate), 6 vegas(times) of vomiting is madhya shudhi(moderate) and 8 vegas(times) is pravar (excellent) shudhi.

Pashchat Karma:-
After performing Vaman Karma the patient should take rest and not consume heavy food. Strict dietary schedule must be followed for 2, 3 or 5 day in special manner according to shudhi, prikriti and bal(strength) of patient. After evacuation of doshas agni (digestive fire) gets slow therefore light food stimulates this, that patient get able to digest heavy food.
In addition to this, it is strictly recommended that the natural urge to urinate, defecate, sneeze and cough should not be suppressed. If vamana is administered properly, the person feels relaxed and able to breathe freely. Lightness in the chest is often experienced after undergoing the therapy. The person thinks clearly, develops a clear voice and good appetite. All the symptoms of congestion vanish away after the proper administration of Vamana therapy.
